Approximately 400 employees underwent PSA tests during Health Week.
In recognition of the Blue November campaign, Uisa is promoting a series of awareness-focused health initiatives for its employees. As part of the program, staff were provided with quick and accessible PSA tests, used to detect prostate cancer.
The initiative underscores the critical importance of early diagnosis in combating prostate cancer, the second leading cause of death among men in Brazil, while encouraging self-care and preventive practices.
According to the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU), data from the Ministry of Health reveal that prostate cancer claimed 17,000 lives in Brazil in 2023, averaging 47 deaths per day. Pfizer reports that successful treatment of this type of cancer largely depends on early detection.
At Uisa, PSA testing and awareness efforts were integrated into Health Week, held in October. Nearly 400 employees took part in the initiative and underwent medical testing.
“During Health Week, we implemented a program focused on prevention and early diagnosis. Our initiative gained significant traction, particularly among field employees who actively participated. These actions aim to promote prevention and self-care, which are the outcomes of the awareness campaigns we organize every year,” said Silvia Sobrinho, Uisa’s Occupational Health Supervisor.
This month, the company continues to monitor the results of the tests conducted with its employees.
